before they reach 5 years of age.
30% of the remaining number die
before they reach age 10.
Physicians for Peace has partnered with
Mercy James Centre,
the first pediatric ICU in the country
With 3 operating rooms and a 50-bed ward, Mercy James Centre for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care is the first and only pediatric intensive care unit in the country.
This facility is already making a significant difference in the lives of Malawian children.
PFP is training the new cadre of pediatric ICU personnel at Mercy James Centre
We are committed to training nurses and doctors who are now better prepared to care for critically ill children before and after surgery, anticipate complications, and provide appropriate treatment.
